Jan. 19, 2017 (Hagåtña) — The Calvo-Tenorio Administration is inviting the community to participate in Islandwide Beautification Day on Jan. 28. Work will begin at 7 a.m.
“Last year, your administration and government agencies lead clean up efforts throughout the island in preparation for our thousands of visitors for the 12th Festival of Pacific Arts. This time we’re doing it for us,” said Acting Governor Ray Tenorio. “Islandwide Beautification Day is part of a larger effort to reduce and even stop illegal dumping, which could lead to pollutants seeping into our drinking water, and trash being swept into our oceans and smothering our reefs.”
GovGuam agencies are participating in this effort alongside their partners in the Judiciary and the Legislature.
We also are partnering with the Department of Education, which has added Islandwide Beautification Day as a Service Learning opportunity for students. Please note, that all minors MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.
MATERIALS & SUPPLIES:
- If you have gloves and such, you are welcome to bring those, but we will have gloves and bags to pass out at each site.
- There will be two colored bags, one for regular trash and one for recyclable materials.
- We will have data cards, similar to those used for International Coastal Cleanup to build up the database of what is collected and where.

WHAT TO WEAR: Please wear comfortable clothing, we advise long-sleeve shirts and pants, and closed-toe shoes.
