Governor Eddie Baza Calvo has appointed Charles V. Esteves as the acting Guam Homeland Security Advisor.

HSA Brig. General Lizama submitted his formal resignation on June 10, 2016, to pursue another career opportunity.

Governor Calvo thanked General Lizama for his service as his HSA and wishes him well on his future endeavors stating, “Although General Lizama’s tenure was short as the HSA, his unwavering support and professionalism was truly admired. Thank you for your time.”

In a letter addressed to Governor Calvo, General Lizama stated: “It has been an honor and privilege to serve as your Homeland Security Advisor. It is with heavy heart that I leave the Government of Guam.”

Brig. General Johnny S. Lizama was appointed to that position on Aug. 1, 2015 and served as the Governor’s Special Assistant for Homeland Security. As the HSA, his primary duties and responsibilities included all activities related to the protection of Guam and its people from terrorism, invasion, insurrection, rebellion, lawless violence, or similar threat.

Charles Esteves currently holds the position of Office of Civil Defense Administrator and will concurrently be the Acting HSA effective June 27, 2016.
