Crowns Guam and Paradise Fitness Adopt Paseo Basketball Court

Hagåtña, Guam – On Friday, June 25, 2021, the Islandwide Beautification Task Force (IBTF), chaired by Lieutenant Governor Josh Tenorio, joined Crowns Guam and Paradise Fitness Guam in celebrating the completion of the Paseo de Susana Basketball Court mural project. The renovation was part of the Islandwide Parks and Recreational Facilities Renovations projects led by Lt. Governor Tenorio and funded by the Department of the Interior.

As part of their adoption commitment, Crowns Guam and Paradise Fitness commissioned local artist Lee San Nicolas to paint a mural on the basketball court. The project took a week to complete and features a mural consisting of floral art with vibrant colors, representing the company’s brand of island pride mixed with street culture.

“We want to thank the community for being patient with us through the process. This is the first one, but we’re looking forward to doing more community projects. We want to give back to Hagåtña and it only makes sense to start in our island’s capital. We want to start one village at a time. This is a new chapter for us at Crowns,” said Randy Alcantara, owner of Crowns Guam.

The local business plans to adopt more parks and hold other community events for the island’s youth including a street ball tournament next month.

“Thank you to Crowns Guam and Paradise Fitness for being great community partners and reinvigorating a sense of pride in our island with the basketball court adoption project. We’re appreciative of this makeover as basketball courts like this are a great place where people of all ages gather together and play,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero.

“We know that sports have the unique ability to inspire and unite people from all backgrounds, and adopting this basketball court helps inject excitement and enthusiasm in our community. Our entire team from the Islandwide Beautification Task Force thanks Crowns Guam and Paradise Fitness for investing in our community. We will continue to provide our support and encourage all of our community partners to join our Parks Adoption Program,” said Lt. Governor Tenorio.
