Hagåtña, Guam – In the spirit of giving and compassion, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero will be launching a government-wide food drive next week.

There are many things for which to be thankful, and there are many times we forget that we have so much more than others. As we usher in the holidays, beginning with Thanksgiving, let us remember those who are less fortunate and deepen the meaning of giving,” said Governor Leon Guerrero.

Beginning October 15, each Government of Guam department or agency of the executive branch will serve as drop off locations where the public and government employees are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items such as canned goods, 5-10lb bags of rice, pasta, and bottled water. Agencies will continue to accept donations until November 15. Respective agencies will then drop off all donated items to the Governor’s Office by November 18 to prepare for pickup by community organizations on November 22.

I encourage everyone to take part in this food drive and give back to the people who need it most. The holidays should be about coming together as a community and strengthening our ties to each other, no matter how much or how little we have,” Governor Leon Guerrero said.
