Anticipate Area Road Closure & Lane Shifts Beginning on October 24, 2022

Hagåtña, Guam – The Leon Guerrero-Tenorio Administration and the Department of Public Works (DPW) announces the launch of road improvements beginning on October 24, 2022, in Tamuning and Chalan Pago. Road advisories include a temporary road closure and lane shifts. 

“These highway improvements build on our administration’s evolving commitment to revitalize our communities and strengthen our road to recovery,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “Right now, there are ongoing projects islandwide that are actively building a better quality of life for our people. This is Guam’s progress and together we will keep Guam moving forward.”

Full Road Closure: Route 14B (Ypao Road), Tamuning

The renovation and resurfacing of Route 14 (Ypao Road) begins on Monday, October 24, 2022, resulting in a temporary full road closure as construction proceeds between Congressman Paul D Palting Loop and Pale San Vitores Road in Tamuning. Improvements include the reconstruction and widening of Route 14B (Ypao Road) from its intersection with Carmen Memorial Drive to the intersection of Pale San Vitores Road for a total length of 0.35 miles. Additional enhancements will be made to bicycle lanes, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, storm drainage systems, retaining walls and utility relocations. Area residents and businesses are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zone, observe speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed flaggers when present. Project completion is anticipated for May 2023. 

Lane Shifts: Route 4 and Route 10 Intersection and Chalan Kinaka Street, Chalan Pago

The improvements previously announced for the Route 4 and Route 10 intersection and Chalan Kinaka Street in Chalan Pago will now launch on Monday, October 24, 2022, resulting in temporary lane shifts for southbound traffic daily between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Improvements include milling and paving, installing raised pavement markers and guardrails, striping and spot repairs. Area residents and drivers are advised that road construction may affect the flow of traffic. Anticipate temporary delays and adjust accordingly as work proceeds.
