Hagåtña, Guam — On Friday, the Leon Guerrero-Tenorio Administration cut the ribbon on the newly converted Department of Public Works (DPW) Bus Administration Office. The facility, formerly the DPW Laboratory, has transformed into a centralized hub for Guam’s bus operations. The new DPW Bus Administration Office will house the Bus Superintendent, administrative staff, and dispatchers. It will serve as the operational center for Guam’s school bus transportation services, supporting its mission to provide safe, reliable, and efficient student transportation.

“Our administration remains committed to improving Guam’s public infrastructure to meet the needs of our people,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “This facility reflects our investment in the safety and well-being of our students by ensuring that transportation is not a barrier to their education but a dependable service that contributes to their success.”

“Our drivers have consistently stepped up to serve as a lifeline for our community, evidenced by their work during the pandemic and typhoon response, providing transport for our travelers and hot meal deliveries for those in our shelters,” said Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio. “Most recently, our drivers have been essential in navigating the challenges of the new school year. With students on double sessions, our drivers have worked tirelessly to align with various bell schedules, ensuring that all students arrive at school and return home safely and on time. This new facility is a testament to our commitment to equipping them with the tools they need to continue their vital work.”

The new facility will enhance operations, providing dispatchers with real-time information to the public for all transportation inquiries while maintaining close communication with mechanics for immediate response in the event of bus breakdowns. The building will also support training for new drivers and conference meetings with School Bus Division (SBD) Supervisors, school administrators, and other agencies.

The $295,125 project was funded by the American Rescue Plan and made possible by Mega United Corp.
