(Hagåtña) — With the near payless payday for executive branch agencies and uncertainty for future payroll, Governor Calvo announced today that he, Lieutenant Governor Tenorio, and their senior staffers have volunteered for a 32-hour workweek.

“My staff and the Lieutenant Governor’s staff understand the dire financial straits that the Government of Guam is facing,” Governor Calvo stated. “Ray and I will always stand by our hard-working coworkers .”

The executive branch line agencies will continue to make further cuts to government services and overhead to reduce costs as much as possible. For weeks now, the Legislature has failed to pass even its own bills addressing the fiscal crisis and the Guam Memorial Hospital. The Governor is imploring senators to pass a bill to address the $67 million in reduced revenues caused by the federal tax cut.

Call our senators, they are the only ones who can solve this financial crisis.
