(Hagåtña) – Speaker BJ Cruz, is proposing an amendment that will abandon GMH and increase taxes for 60 days, so that he can find ways to cut more government programs and increase additional taxes.
The proposal the Speaker is proposing, will continue to leave government employees, government operations, and the island in an unstable fiscal situation and economic uncertainty.
Speaker Cruz, funding GMH and the government of Guam is the responsibility of your body. Your proposal will only keep your colleagues in an untenable situation for another 60 days, and kick the can down the road for GMH.
The Speaker is proposing amendments that will affect employee livelihoods and affect life and death.
GMH has been underfunded for over 30 years by as much as $30M. These problems existed when Speaker Cruz first stepped foot into public office, we hope he will find it in himself to fix this challenge for Guamanians before he leaves office this year.
