Meteorologists warn that Guamanians might see winds pick up and more rainfall, along with rough seas beginning tomorrow.
Tomorrow is a holiday and many families may spend it at the beach. We encourage families to check the weather and the surf advisory before finalizing their plans. Additionally, as the storm passes to the west of Guam, south and west facing reefs could see higher surf with life-threatening rip currents.
The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) advise the community to take basic precautionary actions now in case the storm makes a turn for the worse. Residents and visitors are advised to:
Take down canopies and clear loose debris around your yard. Store any items that may become airborne with heavy wind.
Stay up to date with the latest information. The storm track or intensity may change. Advisories regarding flash flooding or high surf may be issued.
Stay out of the waterfalls and rivers and avoid hiking on Wednesday, due to the potential for flash floods.
Locate or prepare your emergency preparedness kits for your household.
Gas your vehicles and get fuel for your generators.
Stay up to date in the event there are changes with or updates to changes in Conditions of Readiness.
