Hagåtña – Out of $58 million in federal funds, more than $50 million was used – leaving approximately $2.5 million.
Edward Birn, Department of Administration Acting Director, said the $2.5 is primarily Medicare amounts.
“The Medicare monies were incentives available for private medical providers. Not all providers chose to utilize these funds to upgrade systems and the allocation had to be returned,” Birn stated.
Previous figures that had been used in a report that today was the topic of media reports were preliminary.
