Governor Eddie Baza Calvo and Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio are mourning the late former Lt. Governor Frank Flores Blas, who passed away last night.

The Governor has declared a state of mourning and all flags will be flown at half-staff until the date of interment, which will be announced at a later date.

Below are statements from the Governor and Lt. Governor:

“It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to such a dedicated public servant. Former Lt. Governor Frank Flores Blas’ passion for serving the people of Guam was not only obvious in his roles as a senator and as a lieutenant governor; it was demonstrated in everything he did throughout his life,” Governor Calvo said. “He was a dynamic leader, one that continues to inspire future generations with his wisdom. His legacy is one that will live on for years to come. His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers during this time of loss.”

“Guam is a better place because of devoted leaders like former Lt. Governor Frank Blas. He played a significant role in shaping our island, a champion of opportunity for the people of Guam,” Lt. Governor Tenorio said. “Former Lt. Governor Blas truly was one of Guam’s finest public servants. We will miss his strength, determination and integrity. Most of all, we will miss his presence. Our island bears the loss of a great man and a great leader. He will sorely be missed by many, and we grieve together with his wife, Tina, and their children, grandchildren and extended family.”
