Hagåtña, Guam – Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio issued the following statements on the passing of Congressman Raúl Grijalva:
“I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of Congressman Raúl Grijalva, a champion for working families and a true friend to Guam. Raúl was not just a legislator—he was a man of deep conviction and compassion, always fighting for those who needed him most. From bilingual education to infrastructure funding for the territories, his leadership ensured that communities often overlooked were given the attention and resources they deserved,” said Governor Leon Guerrero. “We will always be grateful for his friendship, his advocacy, and his belief in the people of Guam. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
“Raúl Grijalva dedicated his life to service, and in doing so, he made a lasting impact on so many lives—including those of us here on Guam,” added Lt. Governor Tenorio. “He understood the struggles of marginalized communities and fought to make sure no one was left behind. His leadership in Congress, especially on the House Natural Resources Committee, helped secure critical funding for Guam and the other territories, and his support was instrumental in passing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. We will always remember his kindness, his commitment to justice, and his support for our island. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and colleagues as we honor his legacy.”
