Tropical Storm Watch in Effect for Saipan and Tinian

The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office Guam has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Saipan and Tinian.  Damaging winds of 39 to 73 mph are possible in the next 36 to 48 hours.

There are no storm watches or warnings for Guam.  The heavy rainfall we are seeing in Guam is due to monsoon weather; they have prompted a flash flood advisory.

Tropical Storm Cimaron (23W) currently centered about 480 miles east-northeast of Guam moving northwest at 8 mph with maximum winds at 45 mph.

TS Cimaron is expected to intensify through Monday.  Tropical Storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 145 miles on the eastern semicircle and up to 85 miles on the western semicircle.

We will continue to monitor the storm as it maintains its general course and speed over the next 24 hours.
