Local Program Provides over $1 Million to 3,350 Households

Hagåtña, Guam – Beginning March 29, 2022, the Leon Guerrero-Tenorio Administration issued the first batches of payments of Prugrảman Salảppè Ayudon I Taotao, a local program created to provide $300 in direct cash assistance to eligible households and help offset the impacts of rising costs in fuel and other goods. To date, over $1 million has been issued to 3,350 households. Payments were made by check and direct deposit. Recipients who opted for direct deposit will receive a notification via postal mail. 

“We are focused on helping our people deal with the rising gas prices and rallied our public assistance resources to be able to provide direct aid as soon as humanly possible,” said Acting Governor Josh Tenorio. “With increased access through online applications and expanded eligibility to reach more working individuals and households, we are reassured that thousands of our people are receiving the support they need.”

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero created Prugråman Salåppe’ through Executive Order 2022-03. The local program is administered by the Department of Administration (DOA) and utilizes American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds. Program eligibility follows U.S. Department of Treasury guidelines. Household income limits are equivalent to 300% of the federal poverty level.

DOA advises that incomplete applications to include missing required documents and identification may result in unanticipated delay of verification and payment. Prugråman Salåppe’ staff are processing applications as quickly as possible and contacting applicants to address incomplete submissions and further their processing status. The Prugråman Salåppe’ application period opened on March 15, 2022, and closes on April 15, 2022. Households are encouraged to apply online at doa.guam.gov. Hard copy applications are available at all village mayor offices and the Treasurer of Guam on the 1st floor of the ITC Building in Tamuning. Applications may also be picked up at the Prugråman Salåppe’ office on the 2nd floor of the ITC Building, Suite 215.
