Calvo Meets with U.S. Secretary of Education

(Washington, D.C.) Governor Eddie Baza Calvo Saturday met with U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. The leaders spoke about Governor Calvo’s emphasis on education improvements as the key to long-term economic sustainability. Governor Calvo’s Classrooms-to-Careers initiative, which is in the planning stages, will provide an economic master plan anchored on education excellence in public and private schools.
The meeting between Governor Calvo and Secretary Duncan happened on the opening day of the National Governors Association 2011 Winter Meeting. Education, early childhood development and job creation were major focuses of the nation’s governors during the Saturday sessions.
