$3M in COLA Payments Made
Checks Address Interest Obligations
Press Update: February 17, 2011
Approximately $3 million in available bond proceeds was paid to members of the Cost of Living Allowance class today. According to Department of Administration Acting Director Benita Manglona, the Treasurer of Guam mailed checks to recipients named in a public law Governor Eddie Baza Calvo signed at the beginning of his term. The legislation was authored by Senator Ben Pangelinan.
“As a senator, and as Governor, I will always be committed to helping our most vulnerable. Guam’s manamko waited far too long for this day,” Governor Calvo said. “This money is an obligation to our elders. My administration will continue to work with the Legislature and the COLA class to pay what is owed to them. I want to thank Senator Pangelinan for championing this cause.”
