Calvo receives notice of award from Assistant Secretary Babauta

(Washington, D.C.) – Governor Eddie Baza Calvo has received more than $6 million in new grants to make various capital improvements around the island and to assist the Department of Revenue and Taxation. Today, Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Insular Affairs Tony Babauta presented the grant award. The money will be used for:
 

  • $2.5 million for renovations to the Port Authority of Guam’s Gregorio D. Perez Marina
  • $1,372,000 for renovations to the University of Guam’s Field House
  • $934,000 for rehabilitations to the Guam Waterworks Authority’s Asan Spring Facility
  • $935,052 for the Department of Revenue and Taxation to purchase and install an IBM I Series Power 7 Server
  • $600,000 for the Department of Revenue and Taxation to purchase and implement the Meta Tag Document Management System

 
“This money will benefit the fishermen, businesses, and families who use the marina in HagÃ¥tña, and the students who use the UOG Field House every single day. It will also go a long way to bringing in more revenue through the Department of Revenue and Taxation,” Governor Calvo said. “I want to thank Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and Assistant Secretary Babauta for their continued support for Guam and our people.”
