Hagåtña, Guam — Acting Governor Josh Tenorio joined family, faculty, and industry partners in celebrating 30 new graduates from the GCA Trades Academy, applauding the milestone as a testament to the island’s commitment to building a skilled local workforce ready to meet the needs of Guam’s growing economy. Most of Wednesday’s graduates earned certifications from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) in high-demand fields, including Project Management, Electrical, HVAC, and Construction Site Safety. Many of the celebrants are concurrently taking courses in crane operating and carpentry, among other high-demand skills.
“Today, we are not only recognizing 30 individuals for their personal achievements—we are celebrating the continued growth of Guam’s skilled labor force,” said Acting Governor Tenorio. “These graduates are helping to build our future. With every certification earned, we are laying a foundation for economic self-sufficiency and opportunity for our people.”
The Acting Governor commended the GCA Trades Academy for its leadership in workforce development and emphasized the Leon Guerrero-Tenorio Administration’s ongoing support for vocational training, apprenticeship programs, and educational initiatives aimed at upskilling local talent.
“As our island undergoes unprecedented growth, driven by military projects, civilian construction, and infrastructure investment, we need a workforce that is ready and resilient,” he said. “These men and women have proven they are up to the task, and their success is a win for all of Guam.”
The GCA Trades Academy is a nationally recognized, industry-driven training institution that offers practical, hands-on education in the construction trades. With its NCCER affiliation, graduates gain portable credentials that can open doors to careers on and off island. The Administration continues to invest in programs and partnerships that provide pathways to good-paying jobs and long-term careers for the people of Guam.
