01-3.31.13 Affordable Housing Development
“It shouldn’t be expensive for residents to find a place to call ‘home.’ A home is more than just a building – it’s a place where families set roots and create memories. It’s important we help families make their dreams of homeownership a reality.” – Governor Eddie Baza Calvo
25 Acres for Housing Development:
Governor Calvo, this morning, announced that 25 acres of undeveloped land across from the Yigo gym will be rezoned and developed with affordable homes.
CLTC to provide homes for Guamanians :
The Chamorro Land Trust Commission will divide the 81 lots into 162 lots. The CLTC will begin work with Guam Housing Corporation     and Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority to bid out the development of 162 homes on these lots. These affordable homes will be available for sale to eligible residents.
Agency Partnerships make this possible:
This is part of the Governor’s Affordable Housing Initiative. CLTC, along with the GHC and GHURA, is working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture SUTA program to finance this project.
This is the first time this partnership between USDA and CLTC will develop a residential subdivision. Along with the 162 affordable housing units, CLTC will build bus stops and a commercial complex.
