The four ambulances leased to the government of Guam by Mid Pac Far East arrived this morning and will be on roadways serving the community soon.   The ambulances will help the Guam Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Service fleet better serve the local population.
“Recent events revealing the struggles of Guam’s emergency medical services further demonstrate the need for the government to focus on its priorities. Ensuring the safety and welfare of the people of Guam is one of our most important mandates.  It is unacceptable for us to operate with inadequate emergency services when lives are at stake,” said Acting Governor Ray Tenorio.
The ambulances are currently awaiting inspection and other regulatory processing through the Department of Revenue and Taxation. The emergency vehicles should be ready for use next week.
“Governor Calvo and I thank Mid Pac Far East, Matson, GFD, and GSA for their assistance in helping Guamanians receive the emergency help necessary,” Acting Governor Tenorio said.
“We’re making headway in resolving GFD’s most critical issues and we’re committed to making sure these challenges don’t affect this community further. I would like to thank the Governor and Lt. Governor for all the assistance they have given us,” Acting Fire Chief Joey San Nicolas stated.
Along with these four leased ambulances, the procurement for the new ambulances are underway. The advertisement for the procurement was published today.
