Hagåtña, Guam — Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio are pleased to announce that Chief Brodie Elementary School in Tamuning has successfully passed its public health inspection. Nearly two months ago, Governor Leon Guerrero established the Governor’s School Opening Readiness Team (SORT) to address urgent school repairs to open schools for SY2024-2025.
“Our School Opening Readiness Team (SORT) has been hard at work to make sure that every school is prepared to welcome students back into safe classrooms,” said Governor Leon Guerrero. “Going forward, our SORT’s goal is to ensure these schools open—transitioning to maintenance led by DOE as the law intends.”
Lt. Governor Tenorio added, “We remain optimistic about passing grades for the remaining two schools—Southern High School and Inarajan Middle School—which were in most need of repairs. We know these two schools face the greatest challenges, which is why we concentrated our skilled laborers at these campuses, and why they worked tirelessly through the weekends. We welcome a favorable response from the Department of Public Health and Social Services who are finalizing the reports for both campuses.”
The Governor’s SORT assigned to Chief Brodie Elementary School included the Guam International Airport Authority, the Office of the Governor, the Guam Developmental Disabilities Council, and the Guam Recovery Office. They addressed electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting needs as well as cleared and disposed of debris.
