Hagatna Pool Gets Makeover
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 8, 2011
The acting Governor partnered with the Rotaract Club of the Marianas to improve the Hagatna Pool. Acting Gov. Ray Tenorio’s Islandwide Beautification Task Force donated paint and materials for the young professionals of the Rotaract to paint the Great Seal of Guam at the entrance of the pool. This is the first in a series of improvements the IBTF and Rotaractors will undertake to improve the pool.
“We call this a labor of love,” acting Governor Tenorio said. “What you’ll see at the Hagatna pool is a better facility because of the hardwork of volunteers. This goes to show that you don’t need a government appropriation to fix everything.”
Last week, the Rotaractors and their international counterparts from Osaka, Japan participated in the painting of the Seal. It was a show of fellowship and partnership, both within the community and internationally. The organizations incorporated the Great Seal of Guam as part of their beautification project for the Hagatna Pool. They are looking at cleaning and painting various areas of the facilities. They are also working with various community partners including including the Personal Finance Center, Full Circle Home Design, Sylvan Learning Center, the Hagatna Mayor’s Office, and the Rotary Clubs of Guam, Tumon Bay, Northern Guam, and Sunrise.
The Rotaract Club of the Marianas works toward fostering networks and goodwill with their sister Rotaract Clubs. They also participate in numerous community service projects throughout the island. “We invite active students and young professionals to join Rotaract and be part of our continuing efforts in making positive changes on our island and in building goodwill and friendships abroad,” says Crystal Nelson, President of the Rotaract Club of the Marianas.
“I am commend the Rotaract Club of the Marianas for taking the time to help beautify Guam. They used their creativity to not only promote the Seal of Guam, but they also promoted our island by inviting their international friends from Japan and had them take an active role in a service project,” said acting Governor Tenorio, Chairman of the Islandwide Beautification Task Force. “ I thank the Rotaract club and their international partners for their hard work and determination to beautify Guam and endorse the Seal of Guam.”
