Education task force to discuss Untalan move, DOE problems, financing solutions in first meeting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 9, 2012

Educational Learning Task Force Chairman Vince Leon Guerrero asked GEDA Administrator Karl Pangelinan to present creative financing solutions to build and renovate public schools at the first meeting tomorrow.

This is only one part of the agenda. The meeting will begin with action items to move Untalan Middle School back to its Barrigada campus. They’ll organize the committees to address the priority items that the task force will address in this regard.

Next, Leon Guerrero and Co-Chairwoman Taling Taitano will hear from DOE officials, who will present the problems the school system is facing. This conversation should set the stage for the task force to begin developing solutions in totality.

Part of these solutions will be for the renovation and rebuilding of existing schools, and the building of new schools. Pangelinan will present some of these solutions.

It should be stressed that addressing the capital improvement needs of public schools is only part of the charge of this task force.

The meeting will begin tomorrow (Friday) at 10 a.m. in the Cabinet Conference Room, Bordallo Governor’s Complex.  All are invited to attend.
