Non-Profits, GovGuam Agencies Encouraged to Apply for up to $25K

Hagåtña, Guam – The Leon Guerrero-Tenorio Administration continues to urge all non-profit organizations and Government of Guam agencies to apply for the Qualifying Certificate Community Contribution (QCCC) Grant Program Series 5. The grant application period opened on November 15, 2021, and will be closing on December 3, 2021 at 5 p.m.

The Guam Economic Development Authority (GEDA) is administering the QCCC Grant Program, which was created to support local priorities and community needs that are project-based, pandemic-affected, or workforce or entrepreneurial-related by awarding up to $25,000 to eligible non-profit organizations and government agencies. To date, GEDA has distributed nearly $1.1 million to 78 projects focused on healthcare, public safety, higher education, cultural preservation, tourist attractions, sports tourism, and economic development.

“Throughout this trying time, we have had to balance our healthcare needs and our economic recovery, but we have also ensured that our island community continues to see growth at the local level. The QCCC Grant Program is part of what has made this concurrent progress possible,” said Acting Governor Josh Tenorio. “From school murals to village sports facilities, we know this program is making a positive impact that our people can not only see, but also use to enrich their lives. We encourage those who are eligible to take this opportunity and funding to see a vision through and make dreams happen.”

The QCCC Grant Program funded the creation of a mural at Inarajan Middle School and the renovation of the Talo’fo’fo’ Basketball Court this past year, among other community-centered projects. Stakeholders encourage interested non-profits and government agencies to apply.

“Ever since this mural came up, I really think morale and positivity at school has been a lot better, a lot stronger,” said Angela Anderson, an Inarajan Middle School teacher and coordinator of the mural project. “We faced a lot during the pandemic and seeing the mural up here during all of that, I think it makes everyone proud to be from down here. I strongly recommend others in the community to apply for this grant. It was probably one of the most user-friendly applications I’ve ever done.” To learn more about Inarajan Middle School, click here

“This grant resurfaced the court, put up a new fence, and did a new paint job. Now we have a first class basketball court, a safe place for the kids to play. I want to thank GEDA and also GRMC for their contribution to the program,” said Talo’fo’fo’ Mayor Vicente Taitague. “The grant application is not that hard. I encourage everybody to take advantage of this program.” To learn more about Talo’fo’fo’ Basketball Court, click here.
