Hagåtña, Guam – In response to the recent passage of Congressman Moylan’s amendment to establish a permanent Veterans Affairs Regional Office on Guam, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero issued the following statement:

“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Congressman Moylan for his swift action in advancing the establishment of a Veterans Affairs Regional Office on Guam. This initiative, which I proposed to him, is a significant step towards ensuring our veterans receive the recognition and support they rightfully deserve.

For far too long, the brave men and women who have served our nation from Guam have been underserved. I have been diligently lobbying for this initiative with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Congress, and it is gratifying to see our collective efforts come to fruition.

The establishment of a full-service VA Regional Office on our island is not only vital for our local veterans, who represent one of the highest per capita veteran populations in the United States, but also crucial for enhancing Guam’s role as a regional hub in the Indo-Pacific. As our military presence expands, we must ensure that our veterans have access to the resources and support they need.

I commend Congressman Moylan for taking this idea and championing it through Congress, and I am hopeful that the Senate will act swiftly to approve this measure so that we can see it signed into law. Together, we are making history for our veterans and their families.

Thank you, Congressman Moylan, for your leadership and commitment to the veterans of Guam. This is a victory for all of us, and I look forward to continuing our work together to ensure that our veterans are never forgotten.”
