Guam Bureau of Statistics and Plans to Execute Program

Hagåtña, Guam – The Office of Insular Affairs has awarded $759,902 from their Technical Assistance Program for the Guam 2050 Sustainability Plan project. Governor Lou Leon Guerrero received the notice of award today, on behalf of the Guam Bureau of Statistics and Plans (BSP), who will execute the plan.

“Guam is at a historical crossroad, and with a comprehensive sustainability plan, we can plan for the future instead of allowing the future to happen to us,” said Governor Leon Guerrero.  “This week alone, we’ve made tremendous progress with planning for our future, evidenced by our meeting with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to build a Medical Center of Excellence and the 6th Annual Planners’ Symposium, which kicked off today. Now that we’ve nearly eliminated our deficit, our Administration has laid solid groundwork for a prosperous future with a focus on sustainable development.”

“As an island community, we know that we must preserve what we have for future generations. With a comprehensive development plan, one that provides short and long-term guidance for the social, economic, infrastructure, supra structure, and physical sustainable development, we can make informed decisions about how to best serve our people while respecting our land and limited resources,” said Lieutenant Governor Josh Tenorio.

The Guam 2050 Sustainability Plan is provided by Public Law No. 35-110.
