Taitague & Mabini Succeed in Push for Inarajan Road Repairs
Road construction along Route 4 Inarajan and the As-Alonso Area to start
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 30, 2012
Mayor Franklin Taitague of Inarajan has been pushing for road repairs in his village since large trucks going to the Layon landfill were tearing up the roads his people use. Sen. Sam Mabini joined Mayor Taitague in pushing this issue as well with Adelup months ago.
“It is really unfair to the people of Malojloj and Inarajan that our roads are being damaged because of all the big trucks going to and from the new landfill,” Mayor Taitague said. “I’ve brought this issue to the Governor and to Sen. Mabini, and they really took care of us. They helped me to take care of the people of my village.”
“I spent my early years growing up in the south, and I know how often southerners feel forgotten,” Sen. Mabini said. “My Bill 181-31 directly addresses the need to monitor truck loads and their impact on all our major roadways, and the roads in Malojloj and Inarajan are especially impacted because of the higher traffic of large trucks visiting the new landfill. It is the fair and right thing to do, and I wanted to make sure we made this right for the people of Malojloj and Inarajan. I understand their frustration and I’m glad the government is doing something about it.”
Two task orders are being processed now to incorporate road repair work on the As-Alonso area into appropriate contracts. A design firm has been selected and scope and fee discussions are underway for road repairs on Route 4 Inarajan. A task order also is being prepared to incorporate this work into the contract.
This progress follows the execution of a Memorandum of Agreement between the Department of Public Works and the solid waste receiver on July 25, 2012.
“Mayor Taitague and Sen. Mabini were knocking on our doors to see this through,” acting Governor Ray Tenorio said. “That’s what you call dedication to the people we serve.”

Please call Mayor Taitague at 475-2509, Sen. Mabini at 797-1966, or Troy Torres at 475-9304 for more information.
