First Lady to ‘Light the Way’ for Down Syndrome Awareness
Calvo Joins First Spouses Nationwide, Invites Families to Government House

First Lady Christine Calvo will join first spouses nationwide in bringing attention to Down syndrome cognitive research tonight.  The event is called, “Light the Way,” and is being launched on World Down Syndrome Day.
“Everyone should given the support and love they need,” First Lady Calvo said.  “Eddie and I want to spread awareness of Guam’s sons and daughters who have Down syndrome.  It will be an honor to host them and their families at Government House.”
First spouses throughout the nation were asked to display their support for families living with Down syndrome.  Part of the national awareness campaign includes the lighting of official residences of the governor of each state or territory, to demonstrate In participation of the campaign, Government House will be illuminated with the color blue at sunset tonight.  First Lady Calvo is inviting families and friends of people with Down syndrome to join in the event.   Members of the Down Syndrome Association of Guam are expected to attend.
