Grant Award Enhances Public Television Quality, Educational Offerings

Hagåtña, Guam – The Leon Guerrero-Tenorio Administration presented The Guam Educational Telecommunication Corporation (PBS Guam) with state of the art production equipment valued at $500,000 on April 8, 2022. The equipment is intended to upgrade the PBS studio and meet Federal Communications Commission guidelines, and was procured through a Department of Interior Technical Assistant grant award with assistance from the Guam State Clearinghouse.

“PBS has been broadcasting educational resources for generations and not only has provided high quality content, but also has used its platform to keep our community connected,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “The talented staff of PBS have brought a new anticipatory energy to our island, and their ability to elevate their offerings is exciting. We continue working towards more broadcast improvements including the renovation and expansion of their Mangilao station.”

“The kind of education that public television provides the people of Guam and the Marianas is irreplaceable,” said Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio. “In response to the pandemic, PBS created modernized programming to push forward the educational achievements of our kids and educators. It’s heartwarming to see this has been a priority for the PBS board and management.”
