“This new building will eventually lead to better customer service. GPA is a part of the GovGuam family. I’m proud to help their mission and pay tribute to a passionate public servant: Gloria Nelson.”

Governor Eddie Baza Calvo

Fifteen Acres of Land Transferred to GPA-GWA
Governor Calvo transferred 15 acres of land in the Fadian area from the Department of Land Management to Guam Power Authority-Guam Waterworks Authority for the Gloria B. Nelson GPA-GWA Multi-Purpose Facility.

The 116,000-square-foot facility will consolidate the administrative and technical divisions of GPA and GWA in a new LEED Silver certified building. The new building eliminates traffic congestion and boasts a new design for the GPA-GWA customer service areas so they can better serve their customers. It also relieves congestion and parking problems that exist at GPA’s current facility.

LEED Silver Certified Building Provides a Standard for GovGuam Buildings
The LEED Silver Certified building provides a standard for all Government of Guam buildings, reducing energy consumption and improving worker productivity through design. Joaquin Flores, the General Manager of GPA indicated, “Our current location has had a ‘make-do’ approach to serving our customers for too long. The new facility will eliminate traffic congestion and improve the design of the customer service areas. This new facility represents GPA’s commitment to a brighter future: affordable rates and the provision of quality and reliable service. The efficiencies created by this new structure is representative of GPA’s commitment to service for our rate payers.”

The ground breaking for the new Gloria B. Nelson GPA-GWA Multi-purpose Facility is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10.
