“This is the first major upgrade our pool has seen. It was something the facility needed. I look forward to our families and athletes enjoying the pool. This is something that we as a community can be really proud of.”

– Governor Eddie Baza Calvo

Hagåtña Pool now open for island community

Starting today, residents can enjoy the newly renovated Hagåtña Pool. The pool was closed last August for its first major upgrades since it opened nearly 50 years ago.

“The HagÃ¥tña Pool has been a part of our community for decades. Our pool wasn’t in the best condition, and we want future generations to be able to enjoy it,” Governor Eddie Baza Calvo said. “These renovations will benefit everyone.”

The pool underwent $273,000-worth of improvements, including bathroom, shower and locker room renovations, maintenance to the pump and electric systems, repairs to the pool shell, painting, and the addition of perimeter lighting. The upgrades were funded through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Revenue Bonds and gaming tax funds. Interior pool lighting also was donated by MDA.

“This is a positive example of public and private sectors working in partnership to improve outcomes for our island,” the Governor added.

The pool serves about 250 people each day, including multiple swim teams, and swim and aerobic classes. The pool is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The pool will be closed on Mondays and government holidays.
