Governor Calvo Provides Funding for Senior Citizen DPHSS Program
Governor Eddie Baza Calvo has expanded a critical government program that feeds Guam’s elders who either can’t afford, or don’t have the ability to feed themselves. The Division of Senior Citizens of the Department of Public Health and Social Services has delivered meals to thousands of senior citizens Monday through Friday for the last 33 years. Starting this weekend, our manamko‘ will also get meals delivered on Saturdays.
This extra day of needed nutrition is funded through a provision Governor Calvo, Senator Aline Yamashita, and the legislative minority included in this year’s budget. The additional $500,000 appropriated in the law allows DPHSS to deliver meals Monday through Saturday every week.

The Department of Public Health and Social Services’ Division of Senior Citizens helps our Manamko’ maintain their independence and dignity. They offer support services that include nutritional meal delivery, protection from potential physical and mental abuse, access to affordable healthcare programs, transportation services, and much more.
