‘My Village Project’ Launched; Yona First to Participate

A release from the Governor’s Office w Contact Phill Leon Guerrero at 929-7467 or Phillip.LeonGuerrero@Guam.gov

““The strength of our island is rooted in the lifelong connections we make in our home villages.  We raise our families there.  We build our dreams for the future there.  Being a part of this community instills pride in our village, our island, and ourselves.  All Guamanians deserve to be proud of their village and proud of a government who recognizes their needs at a grassroots level.  The ‘My Village Project’ goes a long way to show our families that different segments of government — the administration and their mayors and vice mayors, care about helping our families.” — Governor Eddie Baza Calvo

Calvo launches “My Village Project”
A new initiative from Governor Eddie Baza Calvo will boost village pride and bring needed government services to homes of village residents.  This afternoon, he launched the “My Village Project,” a program the administration will offer to each island mayor over the coming months.

Each month, a different village will be placed in the spotlight, and a variety of activities will be held in the village to address residents’ needs.  They can be as simple as a cleanup at a park, or as comprehensive as a week-long program that will bring government services directly to your door.

This initiative is another example of the Governor and Lt. Governor’s commitment to public service that is convenient, accessible, and meaningful to Guamanians.

Yona is first village to participate, Mayor Ada collaborates with administration
The inaugural village for this project is Yona: the gateway to the south. A variety of programs and activities have been planned collaboratively with Mayor Ken Joe Ada.  These include:
