Proclaiming the week of March 10 through March 16, 2013 in Celebration of
FIRE SERVICE RECOGNITION WEEK
Whereas, firefight
Citizens of our island community have taken an oath to answer the call when fire or the threat of fire exists; and to prevent those fires from starting. Guam’s firefighters are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all those living in and visiting our Island.
Guam’s responders are dedicated to reducing the occurrence of fires and loss of life from fire or other catastrophes through prevention and education. These men and women contribute significantly to the quality of life for the citizens they serve. Their commitment to excellence and diversity of skills are an invaluable resource for providing the services expected by our citizens.
Guamanians are served every day by these firefighters, emergency medical technicians, emergency medical dispatchers, search and rescue personnel, and fire inspectors who risk their lives in service to the people of our island community.
Fire Service Recognition Week brings awareness about the quality of people in the public fire service, their commitment to high ethical standards, and the value of the services they perform.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDDIE BAZA CALVO, I Maga’ LÃ¥hen GuÃ¥han, Governor of Guam, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Organic Act of Guam, as amended, do hereby proclaim the week of March 10, 2013 through March 16, 2013 as Fire Service Recognition Week. I encourage Guamanians to recognize and honor the many sacrifices firefighters make for Guam and for their continued commitment to making our island, and our world, a better place. I urge everyone in our community to remember the courageous efforts of these men and women who serve our island.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hereby set my hand and cause the Great Seal of Guam to be affixed in the Capital City of Hagåtña on this Eleventh day of March, in the year of our Lord, Anno Domini, Two Thousand Thirteen.
