First Lady Christine M.S. Calvo’s office is distributing new shoes to foster kids and ensuring they have vouchers to get school uniforms for the upcoming school year this week.  The First Lady and members of the RigÃ¥lu Board spent the weekend purchasing more than 200 pairs of shoes for foster children in need.

“Our foster kids deserve every opportunity to get excited for the new school year and we want to make sure they start off with new shoes and uniforms,” First Lady Calvo said.  “I met with some of these students this morning and they were so grateful.  It’s amazing how something so small can make such a big difference.”

The uniform and shoe drive is sponsored by the RigÃ¥lu Foundation and is an ongoing initiative.  Residents interested in supporting this cause are invited to do so throughout the year.

Monetary donations for shoes and uniform vouchers can be made at the Office of the First Lady.  You can email rigaluguam@gmail.com or contact the Office of the First Lady at 475-9475 for more information.
