$1.8M in Tax Refunds to be Released this Week

Hagåtña, Guam – Continuing their commitment to the timely payment of income tax refunds, the Leon Guerrero-Tenorio Administration announces the latest batch of tax refund payments totaling $1,800,860, including refund garnishments. This represents the payment of 455 error-free returns filed on or before October 14, 2021–just twenty-six (26) days ago. Since 2019, the Department of Revenue and Taxation (DRT) and the Department of Administration (DOA) have been working to ensure refunds are processed and paid on a consistent, expedient basis and continue to pay out tax refunds over six times faster than what is required by Court Order.

“Prior to our Administration, tax refunds were paid up to six months after the filing due date,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “We have improved our finances and now our people are getting their tax refunds faster than any other time in Guam history.”

“Twenty-six days instead of six months to pay refunds is a testament to our commitment to our people,” said Lieutenant Governor Josh Tenorio. “We thank the employees of DRT and DOA for their hard work and dedication in processing and paying tax refunds.”
