Tenorio Receives Computer Donations
Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Donates computers to ‘Comps for Kids’ program
Immediate Release: February 15, 2011
Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio today received a donation of two truck loads of computer equipment from the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. Several towers, monitors and printers were among the items donated to the “Comps for Kids” program. “I’m very grateful for the contribution from the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society to the program,” Tenorio said. “Fostering partnerships, especially with nonprofits and our counterparts in the military, will be one of the ways we can make ‘Comps for Kids’ a success. These computers and accessories will go a long way in improving access to educational tools in our island’s schools and libraries.”
The “Comps for Kids” program is an initiative that was proposed when Tenorio was serving as a senator in the Guam Legislature. The program receives used computers from private businesses and citizens in the community. These computers, though a partnership with Guam Community College, are refurbished and prepared for Guam’s schoolchildren at no cost to the government. “With the dire financial constraints our island is going through, it is important that programs like these are in place to complement other resources our government provides to the community,” said Tenorio.
If you have any inquiries about the program or would like to make a donation, please contact Tammy Bamba, Program Coordinator, at 475-9380 or email tammy.bamba@guam.gov.
