University unveils plans for 5-year, $30M capital improvement project plan
The University of Guam is preparing to celebrate its 60th anniversary of providing a higher education for Guam and the Micronesia region. Acting Governor Ray Tenorio signed a proclamation in recognition of 2012 as the University of Guam’s 60th Anniversary.
“The University of Guam has been the backbone of higher learning for this region. This institution has given so many people the professional education and knowledge they need for fulfilling careers, but also as pioneers to lead so many fields and industries on Guam,” Acting Governor Tenorio said. “I’m a proud graduate of UOG and I hope all our alumni and the community as a whole comes out to support the school and its efforts to provide a sustainable future for Guam.”
As part of the event, more than $30 million in capital improvement projects were presented by University officials as part of a 5-year campaign to improve the school’s campus facilities and student and outreach programs.
Some of these plans include:
– Student Services Center
– Engineering Facility
– Fine Arts Center
– Triton Engagement Center which will house the Cancer Research Center and the Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service and Telecommunication and Distance Education Operation
