Wettengel Passes Inspections with Flying Colors

More good news in Guam’s public schools. Wettengel Elementary, an aged facility, received two ‘A’ ratings by Public Health inspectors.

This follows news of record-high test scores and community-driven solutions at Benavente Middle School. This also follows ‘A’ ratings at George Washington High, Merizo Martyrs Elementary, and Inarajan Middle schools.

“It’s really hard to maintain an ‘A’ rating for any facility, especially considering how old that school is and the funding constraints DOE has,” public health director Jim Gillan said. “It’s amazing. I really have to commend DOE for this.”

Wettengel, overall, received only six demerit points for an ‘A’ rating overall. The cafeteria received only four demerits for an ‘A’ rating as well.

“I’m proud of the faculty, staff and administration of Wettengel,” Governor Eddie Baza Calvo said. “They’re obviously doing something right in that school. We should also recognize Taling Taitano and the board for their leadership. This is good news. We need to keep this coming.”

Wettengel was built in 1968. Melissa Limo is the principal, and Elias Taisipic is the assistant principal. The school is home to 762 Dededo residents.
