Hagåtña (March 7, 2017) – The Department of Administration is moving forward with a wage study to bring the government into compliance with a policy that requires a triennial update.

Governor Calvo ordered the study in December.

“The law calls for a triennial study of wages, which if complied with, allows our government to compete with other employers for the best and the brightest. The law also calls for an internal study annually,” Governor Calvo stated. “These studies will help address our government’s challenges in recruiting and retaining top notch people to serve as social workers, engineers, therapists and other areas in the government. Our compliance with this requirement will also will result in a balanced approach to address the concerns of the public as well as our employees.”

The previous study conducted by Hay Group Inc. focused on external competitiveness, the law also calls for annual updates for internal equity. DOA will update the pay scales in both areas.

The new study will include all executive branch employees including elected and appointed positions, as well as Guam senators.
