Nov. 13, 2017 (Paseo) — Baseball teams from the Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, and Kosrae, as well as our own team Guam, will gather at the Paseo Baseball Stadium for a week of friendship and baseball.
The Goodwill games will serve as a soft opening for the baseball stadium, which went through extensive renovations before the Festival of Pacific Arts. Some of renovations included replacing the recreation center, replacing the stadium’s fixed seating, fixing the lighting, adding a new score board, and landscaping the field.
The Department of Parks and Recreation is working on a grand opening in January, which is when the Guam Major League’s season will begin.
“We welcome the different teams from our neighboring islands and hosting them at the place where we celebrated our cultures and our brotherhood as islanders,” Parks & Rec Director Bill Reyes stated.
The tournament was formed by the baseball federations of each island following the last MicroGames in an effort to promote the sport and spirit of friendly competition. Last year’s games were held at Saipan.
There will be three games per daily: 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Games will be held from Nov. 14 to Nov. 20.
