Hagåtña, Guam – Governor Lou Leon Guerrero has ordered all United States and Government of Guam flags on island to be flown at half-staff in honor of the victims of the tragedies of El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio. The directive is pursuant to a Presidential Proclamation signed by President Trump.

The people of Guam join the rest of the nation in mourning the deaths of dozens of people killed in the mass shootings over the weekend in Texas and Ohio. While these tragedies occurred far from our home, its effects are far-reaching and are felt throughout the world,” said Governor Leon Guerrero. “First Gentleman Jeff, Lieutenant Governor Josh, and I pray for the victims and their families and for our nation’s healing. May we come together and bridge the divide in our country, and remember that hate should have no place in our hearts.”

 President Trump has directed all flags to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset until Thursday, August 8, 2019. Pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation all the flags of the United States and the Island of Guam will be flown at half-staff at all local and government buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the island of Guam in honor of the victims of the tragedies in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.
