In response to the Supreme Court decision on the Legislature’s failure to follow the Organic Act:
The Administration respects the Supreme Court’s decision concerning the separation of powers between the branches of government.
Regardless, we continue to release tax refunds within months of filing. Though we believe the people of Guam deserve to receive their tax refunds much quicker. The TRAN would have allowed for this but the actions of certain senators in fighting the TRAN after passing it have prevented this. Senator Regine Lee, as Legislative Secretary, had a chance to help the people by transmitting the bill THAT PASSED to the Governor’s desk but refused.
“Our people have always been my priority. I will continue to fight to get their tax refunds paid out to them as quickly as possible,” said Governor Calvo.
