Guam families searching for affordable homes have new housing options that, when fully completed, will have more than 150 new homes.

Governor Calvo joined Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority in a two-part celebration this morning: the opening of the island’s newest affordable residential community, Summer Town Estates II, and the groundbreaking of the island’s next affordable residential community, Summer Town Estates III.

Finding Solutions: A Hallmark of Calvo Tenorio Administration
“This area we’re at today is the old Lada Estates project from decades ago, which sat idle and had even become a dumping ground for old cars and white goods and beat up furniture,” said Governor Calvo. “I tasked the former president of Guam Housing Corp., Martin Benavente, to resurrect the dream. And together, in partnership with GHURA we’re able to rejuvenate this area and provide affordable and quality homes for our people.”
GHURA Director Mike Duenas said the housing areas are an example of what the Calvo Tenorio Administration has been able to accomplish.
“The hallmark of the Calvo Tenorio Administration has become one of solving problems. Today’s dual celebration is an example of a problem this administration inherited and found solutions for,” Duenas said. “This was a dream that soon turned a nightmare and decades later, the Governor has returned the area back into a dream that became a welcome addition to our community.”

Since the start of the Calvo Tenorio administration, more than 2,000 affordable homes have been built to help Guamanian families.
Governor Calvo and Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio said everyone deserves a place to call home without having to sacrifice basic necessities in order to put a roof over their heads.
Lt. Governor Tenorio added that affordable residential communities like these make the dream of homeownership a reality for many Guamanians.
“Since the start of our administration, we’ve been dedicated to developing affordable homes for our people,” said Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio. “The most recent of the two projects will provide more than 150 homes for our local families, but the grand total of the Summer Town Estates is about 400 new affordable homes.”
Summer Town Estates I, II, III
In the last few months, families started moving into Summer Town Estates II, which includes 93 homes. As part of its amenities, Summer Town Estates II includes a community center, afterschool programs, CCTV security, a fitness center and a swimming pool.

Summer Town Estates III is expected to be completed in the next two years and will be able to serve 66 families. The housing community is planned to feature great amenities such as on-site security, a laundry facility, convenience store, restaurant, swimming pool and more.
In 2013, the Calvo Tenorio Administration celebrated the opening of 240 new homes at Summer Town Estates I.
