October 15, 2017 (Hagåtña) – The team at the A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority passed their latest inspection with flying colors, making them the first airport in the Pacific region to earn zero discrepancies two years in-a-row.
• On September 25-29, the FAA conducted its annual certification inspection of Guam’s only civilian airport to determine compliance with 14 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 139, the Airport’s Certification Manual and the Airport Operating Certificate. • The Airport received confirmation on October 5, 2017 from the FAA Airport Certification Safety Inspector, Wil J. Brown commending the Airport for the procedures used in the day-to-day operations. Mr. Brown adds, “The appearance of the airport indicates they are effective. Your airport received a 100% compliance with no discrepancies.”
Governor Eddie Calvo:
“This two-in-a-row feat is phenomenal. Not only is GIAA retaining its 100% perfect mark, they remain the first and only airport in the Pacific region to accomplish this goal. Guam may be small, but our determination to excel is immeasurable. I thank the men and women of the Guam International Airport Authority for your dedication and hard work to promoting safety, security and excellence!”
Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio
“Congratulations to Team GIAA! Your hard work has paid off. Zero discrepancies on an inspection that covers more than 100 fields on which FAA determines compliance is an amazing achievement. I hope that you are as proud of your accomplishment as we are of you!”
