10.04.13 Fire Prevention Week

“Fires are dangerous. As we celebrate ‘Fire Prevention Week,’ Guamanians should be aware of how they can protect themselves, their families, and their homes from home fires. I thank firefighters, both local and federal, for the sacrifices they make and the risks they take for our safety.” —Governor Eddie Baza Calvo

Governor Calvo and Lt. Governor Tenorio Proclaims Fire Prevention Week
This morning Governor Calvo and Lt. Governor Tenorio proclaimed Fire Prevention Week 2013. This year’s theme is “Prevent Kitchen Fires!” and begins on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Home Depot. There will be demonstrations and activities by local and federal firefighters from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Two of every five home fires begin in the kitchen. They are caused by leaving stoves on and unattended, or by loose pieces of food catching fire.
