Governor Eddie Calvo joined Rear Admiral Shoshana Chatfield, Commander Joint Region Marianas, to greet the men and women of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense Unit, Task Force Talon, at Andersen Air Force Base yesterday.
They were greeted by Brig. Gen. Cox, Commander 36th Wing at Andersen AFB, and the THAAD unit.
Lt. Col. Jon Castro, Task Force Talon Commander, welcomed the Governor and Rear Admiral, noting: “We remain ready to protect the island of Guam and the nation. We appreciate you taking the time to visit us.”
Mayor Melissa Savares of Dededo, and Mayor Rudy Matanane of Yigo, assisted Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense, in preparing a luncheon for the men and women.
“This Christmas, many of us in Guam and in the nation will be with our families celebrating a holiday season,” Governor Calvo stated. “We are able to do that because many of you will be out here, serving your fellow Americans and ensuring our safety. As a husband, a father, and a grandfather I want to thank you for your service, your dedication and your love for your nation. Un dangkalu na is Yu’os ma’ase and Merry Christmas!”
