NEWS: Governor to dedicate funding for road improvements
For years, our mayors have waited for work to be done on roads throughout their villages. While Speaker Cruz introduced a bill earlier this year to fund $50 million in road projects, that won’t be enough to address every village road that needs work.
During his State of the Island, the Governor announced he is introducing a bill that will fund road projects without requiring further borrowing. The bill funds road improvements by adding four cents to the per gallon liquid fuel tax.
“ If we can get this done by the end of March, we can break ground on the first roads of this program by summer,” the Governor said in his address.
