NEWS: Governor to dedicate funding for road improvementsFor years, our mayors have waited for work to be done on roads throughout their villages. While Speaker Cruz introduced a bill earlier this year to fund $50 million in road projects, that won’t be enough to address every village road that needs work.During his State of the Island, the Governor announced he is introducing a bill that will fund road projects without requiring further borrowing. The bill funds road improvements by adding four cents to the per gallon liquid fuel tax.“ If we can get this done by the end of March, we can break ground on the first roads of this program by summer,” the Governor said in his address.
