August 16, 2017 (Hagåtña) – The Department of Public Works demonstrated on-bus cameras to Governor Calvo, Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio and members of the media this morning.

“DPW is proud of this improvement to our school buses. They will allow us to promote the safety on our school buses,” DPW Director Glenn Leon Guerrero said.

There are 150 working buses ready for Department of Education’s new school year, which starts tomorrow.

“This is an important installation to our school buses and this is a great way to start off our school year. I want to thank DPW for working hard to ensure a safe environment for our community,” Governor Calvo states.

DPW and DOE held training over the summer at Okkodo High School for bus drivers to ensure the safety of students riding the bus. They focused on self-help/maintenance, Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports (PBIS), and Bus Crash Problems.

“The Administration is confident that this is another way that we can provide safety for our children on their way to school,” Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio said.
