Department of Parks & Recreation Director Robert Lizama is stepping down to focus on personal matters.
“It has been my honor and privilege to serve under this administration as the director of Parks & Rec,” Lizama said. “From this experience, I take away fond memories of the many improvements DPR and this administration has made for our island and our people.”
During his tenure as director, Lizama played a vital role in the success of the 12th Festival of Pacific Arts and oversaw improvements to several of our island’s recreational facilities and parks including the Hagåtña Pool, Paseo Baseball Stadium and Recreation Center, and the Tiyan & Guerrero Softball Field.
“As a result of Bob’s leadership, our island’s families can use renovated facilities to exercise, picnic and enjoy the beautiful island sunshine with their families,” the Governor said. “He’s done so much during his time as director, and his ‘can-do’ attitude will surely be missed. I thank him for all of his hard work, dedication and determination to make a difference on this island.”
Lizama’s last day at Parks & Rec was March 31. The Governor has appointed Deputy Director Bill Reyes to serve as acting director.
